OUR AVIATION FRIENDS PROGRAMME OF EVENTS NEWS & ABOUT

 Newsletter - 2018

Dear AirACES member,

Announcement

A number of you will already know that Mr John Farley, one of our founder patrons, died on the 13th June having been ill for some months. AirACES was very lucky to have John as both a patron, a speaker, and a friend since we started the group at the beginning of 2013. For an interesting insight into his earlier days see the Flight Global obituary

Stop Press

Protect Biggin Hill - St George's RAF Chapel of Remembrance
Stop the part demolition of this iconic Grade II Listed Chapel, built by Sir Winston Churchill in 1951 as a permanent memorial to the 454 fallen airmen from Great Britain, the Dominions and Allied Countries - 'His Boys' - who won the Battle of Britain and flew from Biggin Hill and associated airfields throughout World War 2.

Over 23,000 people have already read and signed the petition HELP them get to their target of 25,000 by giving your support now.

News

We are proud to announce that Wg Cdr Robert (Bob) Prothero (RAF retd) has agreed to become one of our Patrons. Those who have been coming to AirACES talks since the beginning will likely remember that Bob was one of those that came along to our very first meeting to gave us a talk.

Trips

For 2018 we are organising a coach trip to RAF Hendon museum Thur 20 Sept. As usual the coach will leave from Car Park, Sainsburys, Chichester @ bus shelter on the small roundabout by the petrol station.

Parking

The hotel car park space is limited and priority has to be for guests staying at the hotel. Our suggestions is to please park nearby in walking distance, and we are told {2018} the large car park adjacent to Salisbury's only has parking control notices for the blue badge and Parent & Child bays so a lot of our audience park their cars at the north end of the car park, as there is a pedestrian exit you can walk out and then cross the road to the hotel.
